About rafb.me

rafb.me is a grab bag of small utilities: a pastebin, encoders and decoders, generators, and test harnesses for browser hardware APIs like WebUSB and Web Serial. New tools get added whenever one is needed.

What runs where

Almost every tool runs entirely in your browser. Text you paste into the Base64, JSON, JWT, hash, diff and similar tools never leaves your machine. The exceptions are:

• Pastebin: pastes are stored on the server until they expire (or immediately deleted after the first view if you choose burn-after-reading). Pastes are unlisted; anyone with the link can read them.
• What's my IP: the server reports back the address and headers it received from you.

Accounts

Signing in with Google or Microsoft is optional. It lets you keep pastes that never expire and see or delete your pastes later. We store only an opaque provider id against pastes you create, plus your display name in an encrypted cookie.

Cookies & ads

A sign-in cookie is set only if you sign in. Your theme preference is kept in local storage. The site may show ads served by Google AdSense, which uses cookies to serve ads based on prior visits; see Google's ad policies for details and opt-out options.
